An eye examination is the cornerstone of maintaining good vision. You may notice if your eyes are dry or red, but for the most part the ability you see clearly is taken for granted. Yet the eye is among the most complicated organs in the body and regular inspection by an optometrist will help keep these precision instruments working efficiently and comfortably.
An eye examination will reveal if sight can be improved with glasses or contact lenses as well as picking up potentially blinding conditions such as glaucoma or macular degeneration. Examination of the eye can also detect systemic health conditions such as diabetes or hypertension and on rare occasions even life threatening disease.
At Saunders and Schwarz we allow at least 30 minutes for an eye examination using up to date knowledge and equipment to enable us to assess your eyes and vision effectively, followed by a discussion and advice regarding your eye health. All screening tests are carried out by qualified members of our team such as an optometrist or dispensing optician.
As an independent prescribing practice we are also able to prescribe medications for conditions affecting the eye and tissues surrounding the eye. A private or NHS prescription can be issued where necessary, this can save a referral to another medical professional, such as a GP or Ophthalmologist.
