Specialist Optometrist
Richard Saunders BSc (Hons) MCOptom, Dip TP (IP) Prof Cert Glauc. Prof Cert Med Ret.
Richard qualified in 2001 after gaining his Optometry degree from Bradford University. From a family of opticians, Richard completed his pre-registration placement while working alongside Adrian Hughes at Hughes Optometrists in Denbigh in 2001. Following completion of his professional qualifying examinations, Richard continued to work alongside Adrian until 2011 at which time both he and his colleague Leo Schwarz acquired both the Denbigh and Llanrwst practices, becoming Saunders and Schwarz Optometrists.
Richard is a specialist optometrist and is committed to continuing his professional development, recently completing The College of Optometrists Diploma in Therapeutics qualification, becoming an Independent Prescribing practitioner. Richard also has a special interest in glaucoma & medical retina, recently obtaining The College of Optometrists, Professional Certificate in Glaucoma qualification & Professional Certificate in Medical Retina..
Dispensing Optician
Lorraine Jones BA (Hons) FBDO
Lorraine is a dispensing optician, which is a registered health care professional specialising in the fit and supply of the most appropriate optical correction for a patient. What works for one patient may not work for another, therefore utilising the skills of a dispensing optician offers our patients the best possible, tailored service.
Lorraine has a wealth of knowledge regarding the dispensing of spectacles, a qualified dispensing optician having worked in the optical industry since 1987. Lorraine joined Saunders and Schwarz in 2021. and has spent her entire career working within the independent optical sector, providing outstanding primary health care to the local community.
