Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a common eye condition where the optic nerve, which connects the eye to the brain, becomes damaged. It's usually caused by fluid building up in the front part of the eye, which increases pressure inside the eye. Glaucoma can lead to loss of vision if it's not diagnosed and treated early.

You are at an increased risk of glaucoma, if you have a first degree relative with the condition, an annual eye examination is advised if this is the case, when you are aged over 40 years old (covered by the NHS).

Our Optometrist has a special interest in glaucoma, having recently gained the Professional Certification in Glaucoma qualification, call us to arrange appointment if you are overdue an eye examination or have any visual or ocular concerns.
